You are correct, you get the 6ghz band that can be used for more speed or a duplex connection. So your device could send and receive at once, like Ethernet. Not as good of course, but a lot better than otherwise. You only need a 2.5gig+ switch to take advantage of WiFi 6e speeds, you will get the benefits of the 6ghz band regardless.. Current Wi-Fi 6 devices will not support it, new network and client devices will be needed to use 6 GHz. 6 GHz range is around 10% less than 5 GHz, depending on the channel.
