The patent breech in percussion guns is safer and easier to clean. Drum and nipple breeches are manure from several perspectives. Most modern patent breeches on the factory made guns are designed to be cheap to make and install. I believe the Nock antechamber breech gives better velocity but experience is limited.So here goes---Hawkens 45 and 50 are 15/16. Hawkens 54 and larger 1 inch. Seneca 36 and 45 are 13/16. Renegades are 1 inch. But here is the real difference between the Hawken and the Seneca, the Seneca is a completely scaled down version of the Hawken. It looks tiny compared to a Hawken.1. Leather sling included. $ 200.00 plus shippingTurn it with an electric drill, and run the emery up and down the barrel a couple of hundred times; that should remove a lot of the pits unless they are very deep. Change the emery often to keep it sharp. Finish up with very fine emery to polish. This has done wonders for a couple of old shotguns I have messed with.Well I think I got an easy quick fix that takes 0 skill and ends in a perfect fit. If the sights are dove tailed (as were mine), that would be an easy fix.The .36 will hold up better in a breeze and will give you about 25 yards more range. For squirrel hunting, I like the .32 for when the leaves are still on the trees and shots are usually inside of 35 yards.
